BIKE magazine is the most influential two-wheel magazine in the world, and their “deputy editor, Tony Hoare, is no stranger to big miles but has never ridden distance on traditional tourer.” Tony did a 6-page write up for BIKE about a trip he took from the UK to the MotoGP races at Le Mans, France. Tony’s experience was so overwhelming and in some ways life transforming that we like to share some of his words with you. “Going touring on BMW’s new K1300GT is like hiring Lewis Hamilton for the company’s corporate karting day. It brings an inner confidence that you’re dead cert to breeze to victory. It was pretty bloody good as a K1200, but the arrival of the K13 with additional 100cc moves it on some more. That engine shoves onward from any revs, plus there’s a laidback riding position with a comfy seat, Duolever front suspension and Paralever rear to soak up anything that goes under the wheels. Then there is a GPS bolted right before your eyes.” “An adventure bike could carry more luggage and get further on a tank of fuel, but would be nothing like as smooth, or as relentlessly quick. This is stress-free motorcycling at its very best and I can’t think of no bike I’d rather have for distance riding.”
After four rounds of 10 in this year’s Superstock 1000 FIM Cup, the S 1000 RR has been in a class of its own, with BMW Motorrad Team Italia’s Ayrton Badovini seemingly ‘Unstoppable’ in this important race series that supports the Superbike World Championship at all its European rounds. Four convincing wins from four races so far in 2010 means that Badovini currently has a maximum 100 points in the rider standings – currently more than twice that of second-placed rider Michael Magnoni – helping BMW to lead the Manufacturers Standings by a clear margin over distant challengers Honda and Suzuki. Following the Superbike World Championship’s long-haul events in South Africa and the USA, the Superstock 1000 FIM Cup returns in Misano at the end of June. In an exclusive interview, Badovini speaks to BMW Motorrad about his fantastic season so far on the BMW. 30th Anniversary GS Anti-Concours at the MOA Rally GS riders are the ultimate real riders, and the 30th anniversary of the GS Anti-Concourse is about real bikes. In the GS Alternate Universe there will be no awards for clean bikes. No pretty ribbons for fancy paint jobs. No nervous owners standing by with Quick Detailer Mist & Wipe and polishing rags waiting for the judges to show. The focus is performance, utility and usability. One of the most memorable activities at the BMW MOA International Rally is attending their always informative and often entertaining seminars. We are very pleased to announce our own group of seminars for this year’s rally at Redmond, OR. Our list of seminars celebrate BMW illustrious history with topics such as: 30th anniversary of the GS; the racing history of BMW bikes and a multimedia history of K bikes.
